On Tuesday 4 October, at 8:35 pm, the gendarmes of the Departmental Road Safety Squadron intercepted a driver who was accelerating excessively (over 40 km / h above the maximum authorized speed).
A 22-year-old student in Roanne was arrested while driving on the A89 near Saint-Marcel-de-Félines.
As he passed, the radar detected a speed of 210 km / h instead of the 130 allowed on the motorway. A speed of 199 km / h was maintained for this offense.
As always in these cases, theYoung Roanne’s license was immediately suspended. It will be summoned before the court which will decide the amount of the fine.
Without permission, this student would not have been able to leave in his BMW without the friend who accompanied him and who took the wheel for the return journey.
Denis Cheynet, head of the departmental squadron for road safety in the Loire, recalls that “road controls will be increased to combat these speeding”.
In the department, since the beginning of the year, 27 people have lost their lives. In 2021, at the same time, the death toll was 21.
