Since they learned of the existence of this project, it has blown like a wind of anger in Grugé-l’Hôpital (Maine-et-Loire).
Beginning of 2021, several people have set up an association, called Bien vivre en pays bleu, to oppose the installation of wind turbines near their homes.
Two wind turbine masts should rise at Grugé-l’Hôpital, one at Renazé (Mayenne) and another at La Boissière. They are to be built from 2022 for operation until 2049.
Brigitte Doris, president of this association, says:
“It’s a project that falls on us. We did not expect it at all ”.
If the president has lived in the area since August 2019, the assistant secretary of the association, Brigitte Le Buor, also has the impression that this project was brought to the attention of local residents late.
“We have the feeling that it fell from the sky. Me too, I only discovered it recently ”.
Monique Rouillere, secretary, has a similar memory:
“A lot of people found out when they found a flyer in their mailbox. Some thought it was an advertisement and put it in the trash without even seeing it ”.
The members of this association fear their impact. “They won’t be far from our homes. Depending on the direction and the force of the wind, it makes noise, ”said the assistant secretary.
Brigitte Doris fears a harmful influence on the breeding of horses that her daughter wishes to create on her property. “We cannot breed this quality with wind turbines,” says the woman.
Not under my nose
They are afraid of wider consequences:
“They will have an impact on flora and fauna, on the environment. Also, Grugé-l’Hôpital is a historic site with the Château de Champiré, which is listed as a historical monument. You can’t imagine wind turbines near this castle where General Leclerc stayed ”.
If they are not “against wind turbines”, they do not want to see them set up near their homes. “We want to be in a constructive approach. We are not here to accuse, but we are worried. We will fight against these wind turbines ”.
