The Municipality of Nyon thanked the Nyonnaise and now retired Madeleine Schürch for the quality of her work as a local journalist.

All her colleagues will confirm it, Madeleine Schürch has never been one of these journalists in search of notoriety. Also, what was his surprise to receive the invitation of the City of Nyon to a ceremony to mark his retirement. “I hope there won’t be too many people,” she whispered to us before the reception organized on the terrace of the castle on Monday evening.
The Municipality, a few members of the administration and the Municipal Council, as well as a bunch of former journalist colleagues were brought together in all simplicity to discuss the beautiful trajectory of this Nyon figure. Without any note, the property manager Daniel Rossellat retraced her entire career as an outstanding local, stressing in passing that she had always been able to find the right information at aperitif time.
A rich journey
It was the occasion to recall that Madeleine Schürch had made her debut at the “Journal de Nyon” (West Lake Geneva) in 1982. After a short break to host Radio Corol, the budding journalist returned to the “Journal de Nyon”, which will become “Le Quotidien de La Côte”. She then worked at “La Suisse” as a correspondent for the canton of Vaud, before collaborating with the AIR agency, and in the editorial staff of “24 heures”.
The Vaudois daily allowed her to take a detour via Lausanne (Vaud section then Switzerland section), before returning to her stronghold in Nyon, in 2005. In recent years, this field journalist has been sorry to have too often to go through the filter communication spokespersons to obtain information that they would have preferred to obtain firsthand, at the source.
