Local businesses contact the CCI

Often without guidance on the issue, companies (primarily VSEs and SMEs) turn to their CCI to improve their skills and structure their CSR approach. Tools are being put in place to help them.

DA voluntary approach on the part of companies, CSR makes it possible to combine economic performance, social performance and environmental performance. Accessible to everyone without distinction of size or sector of activity, or even status, the CSR approach has been on the rise among companies since the end of the health crisis and strengthens the status of companies that adopt it. On an economic level, the CSR approach impacts the managerial strategy since it contributes to the anticipation of risks, the improvement of efficiency and the optimization of costs. It is a vector for the sustainability of the company’s activity, in the medium and long term. It is particularly within the framework of a CSR policy that responsible purchasing contributes to the establishment of a healthy and balanced relationship with suppliers and subcontractors. From a social point of view, the CSR approach sets objectives in terms of working conditions and the well-being of all employees. Finally, the third aspect of CSR concerns environmental issues. By this we mean the opportunity for the company to estimate the consequences of its activities on the environment. In this sense, it must be able to identify its emissions, its consumption of resources and implement an action plan to reduce them.

A diagnosis on five pillars

Today, the Tarbes and Hautes-Pyrénées CCI has a diagnostic tool to evaluate a company’s practices regarding the five pillars of CSR: governance, sustainable economic performance, human resources management, preservation of environment, and territorial integration. Still little deployed to date in the Hautes-Pyrénées, this diagnosis will be accompanied by a training course, currently being set up in partnership with Purple Campus Tarbes, and should see the light of day in the coming months. The objective is to train a contact person in a company (QSE manager, Purchasing, HR, manager, etc.) over a few days in CSR, in order to be able to initiate an internal process.

Indeed, the company that wishes to take action in terms of CSR must have governance that allows its approach to be applied to the overall strategy of its organization. Therefore, it is appropriate to create a dedicated committee, but also indicators and tools to measure performance and the achievement of CSR objectives.
