Liverpool came out as the champion Carabao Cup 2021/2022. In the final match, the Reds conquered Chelsea through a penalty shootout with a score of 11-10!
Laga Chelsea vs Liverpool held at Wembley Stadium, Sunday (27/2/2022) evening WIB. Both teams played to a goalless draw for 90 minutes.
Even in the extra time of 2×15 minutes, no goals were created. There was VAR instead annulling four goals in this match, three for Chelsea and one for Liverpool.
The match had to be settled in a penalty shootout and all the kickers managed to fulfill their duties until the sudden death round. When both goalkeepers had to step up as executioners, Liverpool won after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s shot bounced over the bar.
Liverpool deserve the ninth trophy in Carabao Cup or commonly called the English League Cup, as well as being the first for them since the victory in the 2011/2012 season.
For Chelsea, this is like repeating the failure three years ago when they were defeated by Manchester City also on penalties.
