SEB TO PRODUCE LOW COST ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATOR

The French group Seb is committed to producing the low-cost artificial respirator MakAir, designed in a few weeks by a group of 250 volunteers to treat the Covid-19 and which is awaiting authorization to start clinical trials. “We have to be ready to be able to produce whenever possible and that is what all our teams are preparing for. We are in the starting blocks”, said Thierry de La Tour d’Artaise, CEO of the group Seb.

“It is not a question of tinkering, it is a question of making a true respirator which is perfectly in conformity (…) I am convinced, unfortunately, that there will be needs”, he added, by welcoming an “extraordinary project”. The MakAir respirator, the production cost of which is estimated at 1,000 euros, was designed by the “Makers for life” collective, made up of Nantes entrepreneurs, “makers”, researchers, health professionals and engineers.
