LIVE LIVE OF TODAY’S STAGE OF THE TOUR OF SWITZERLAND FROM 2.00 PM

15.27 30 km to the finish line!

15.26 The group approaches and in the meantime has reabsorbed all the former escape companions of Edoardo Zamperini.

15.24 Now descent and entry into the final circuit with a first passage on the line from the finish line when there are 19 km left to go.

15.22 Zamperini climbs alone at the head of Novello and I will therefore be the first Maglia Azzurra of leader of the GPM classification!

15.21 Gelders and Rafferty approach Zamperini, the gap is now 20 “. However, the group’s delay does not decrease, always signaled at 1’40”.

15.18 Samuele Leone also loses his wheels. Therefore only Gelders and Rafferty remain in pursuit of Zamperini.

15.16 Zamperini detaches Van Daele on the first ramps towards Novello! The twenty-year-old from Zalf remains alone in the lead of the race.

15.15 Now the Jumbo-Visma development team sets the pace as a group. Several options for yellow-blacks, starting with the Norwegian Per Strand Hagenes.

15.12 We go towards 4.1 km at 5.7% of the climb for Novello.

15.11 Spring Colin Savioz. Three remain in pursuit of the leading duo. The Maglia Rosa group is signaled at 1’40” from the treads.

15.10 Gil Gelders is a very interesting rider, who already won a stage in the last edition with a finish not unlike today’s. The victory at Gent Wevelgem U23 and second place at Roubaix Espoirs are also on the bulletin board for the Belgian.

15.08 So this is the situation in the race: with 45 km to go, Sil Van Daele (Bingoal WB DT) and Edoardo Zamperini (Zalf Euromobil Fior) are in the lead. At 50” a quartet was formed with Gil Gelders (Soudal Quick Step Devo Team), Darren Rafferty (Hagens Berman Axeon), Colin Savioz (La Conti Groupama-FDJ) and Samuele Leone (Work Service-Vitalcare-Dynatek). A little further behind the Maglia Rosa group.

15.05 The race also lights up in groups! First to sprint is the talented Gil Gelders of the Soudal Quick Step Devo Team. Darren Rafferty of the Hagens Berman Axeon sets off in pursuit.

15.04 Another uphill stretch (albeit not marked as GPM) towards Barolo, before the second GPM of the day, that of Novello.

15.02 Let’s go back to the race: Zamperini took the lead in the GPM and was then left alone with Van Daele in the lead. So Savioz and Leone broke away.

15.00 The 2003 class yesterday appeared very subdued in the opening time trial, losing over a minute from almost all the contenders. For now we do not know the reason for the abandonment.

14.58 Bad news from the race: Giulio Pellizzari is forced to retire. The Green Project rider was one of the potential candidates for an important placement in the general classification.

14.51 The first riders begin to break away and lose their wheels uphill. Sprinters will want to try and hold on.

14.49 To increase the pace in the group are Lotto Dstny Development Team and Circus ReUz-Technord, probably at work for Tijl de Decker and Francesco Busatto respectively

14.44 The group approached and also began to climb towards the GPM. Detachment from the four treads reported at 3’40”.

14.42 Here we are! The fugitives have started the ascent of La Morra! The first GPM of this Giro Next Gen 2023 is a 6.4 km climb with an average gradient of 4.8%.

14.40 The group has increased its pace in view of the first ascent of today’s route.

14.35 The first Maglia Azzurra of this Giro Next Gen will also be awarded on the GPMs of La Morra and Novello.

14.29 70 km to the Cherasco finish line, the peloton goes towards Pocapaglia and from there towards the foot of the Morra climb.

14.26 The first two hours of the race are archived. The route starts towards the hottest phase.

14.23 On a similar finish to today’s, Philippe Gilbert won the Gran Piemonte in 2010. The finish line of last year’s Italian junior championships was also placed in Cherasco, which awarded Dario Igor Belletta and Eleonora Ciabocco, two very pure talents born in 2004.

14.20 Head of the race always formed by Sil Van Daele (Bingoal WB DT), Colin Savioz (La Conti Groupama-FDJ), Samuele Leone (Work Service-Vitalcare-Dynatek), Edoardo Zamperini (Zalf Euromobil Fior).

14.05 In the second half, the route will become much more lively and interesting. Two GPMs are expected, First La Morra, with its 6.4 km at 4.8%, then the 4.1 km at 5.7% towards Novello which will precede the first pass over the finish line. 19 km ring to return to the finish line, after a climb of 1600 meters at 4.2%.

14.00 The group continues to proceed at a regular pace, led by the men of the Lotto Dstny development team, Segaert’s team.

13.56 Let’s go back to the news by remembering the four leaders: Sil Van Daele (Bingoal WB DT), Colin Savioz (La Conti Groupama-FDJ), Samuele Leone (Work Service-Vitalcare-Dynatek), Edoardo Zamperini (Zalf Euromobil Fior).

13.53 We take advantage of this completely flat stretch to name a few in view of the finale. Design of the track that leaves room for many interpretations, but in such an insidious ending Francesco Busatto could be looking for an important seal. Also look out for the Norwegian fort Per Strand Hagenes. Davide De Pretto will be able to have his say, as well as riders more specialized in sprinting such as Alberto Bruttomesso, Tijl de Decker or Joshua Gudnitz.

13.47 The advantage of the four leaders increases again. The group is now signaled with a gap of 5’20”.

13.44 Race that passes in the town of Poirino with the road that is completely flat in this section.

13.41 Among the four fugitives, the best placed in the standings is the Frenchman Colin Savioz, who reached the finish line yesterday with the 70th time, 55 “from the winner and first leader Alec Segaert.

13.38 Passed the first 50 km of the race! 100 to go at the finish line in Cherasco!

13.35 We recall the composition of the escape: Sil Van Daele (Bingoal WB DT), Colin Savioz (La Conti Groupama-FDJ), Samuele Leone (Work Service-Vitalcare-Dynatek), Edoardo Zamperini (Zalf Euromobil Fior). For them, a 4’10” advantage over the Maglia Rosa group.

13.32 Completed the first hour of racing with an hourly average of 41.8 km/h.

13.29 We inform you that at the start of San Francesco al Campo, the Italian Davide Toneatti of Astana, as well as one of the most interesting young cyclo-cross riders in Italy, did not leave again with the group.

13.26 The adventure of Alessandro Romele ends and is reabsorbed by the group.

13.23 The first break of the day, that of Pilonetto, has passed. The race heads towards Chieri.

13.16 Alessandro Romele of Colpack Ballan also launched a counterattack. At the last detection, however, his gap was increasing, a sign that his run-up might not be successful.

13.13 Initially Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana Qazaqstan Development Team) was also with them, son of the father of the same name, Olympic champion in 2012. However, the Kazakh got up after a while, leaving his four companions on the run.

13.10 So let’s go into the story of the race: at the moment there are four runners on the run, they are Sil Van Daele (Bingoal WB DT), Colin Savioz (La Conti Groupama-FDJ), Samuele Leone (Work Service-Vitalcare-Dynatek), Edoardo Zamperini (Zalf Euromobil Fior).

13.07 Today is the second all-Piedmontese stage of this Giro Next Gen. Tomorrow we will leave Piedmont to arrive in Lombardy. In the eight fractions, almost all the regions of northern Italy will be touched.

13.05 Interesting stage today, with a rough ending that will offer many points to attack. Finish line in Cherasco at the end of a ramp of 1600 meters with a 4.2% gradient.

13.03 Second fraction, the first in line. Yesterday the time trial victory of the Belgian Alec Segaert in the jersey of European Champion of specialty, which earned him the first Pink Jersey of this edition of the Giro d’Italia for the Under23s.

13.00 Friends of OA Sport good morning and welcome to the LIVE LIVE of the second stage of the Giro Next Gen 2023!

Friends of OA Sport good morning and welcome to the LIVE LIVE of the second stage of the Giro Next Gen 2023! The Corsa Rosa for the U23s is preparing to face the first stage online after the time trial in Aglié awarded the first Maglia Rosa to the Belgian Alec Segaert.

Today we stay in Piedmont for the San Francesco al Campo-Cherasco, a fraction of 151 km from the very interesting finish. In the first part of the fraction there will be only Pilonetto (3.6 km at 7%) to interrupt the flat design, while the second half of the track will be very choppy. First La Morra, with its 6.4 km at 4.8%, then the 4.1 km at 5.7% towards Novello which will precede the first pass over the finish line. Intriguing finish with a ramp of 1600 at 4.2% which will lead to the finish line where many could try to make a difference.

A profile therefore very choppy that offers many points where to try to attack and that is open to different interpretations. It is not a stage where we will be able to see a great battle between the potential candidates for the final success but who knows if Francesco Busatto does not try to snatch an important success on a terrain that could however reward even a particularly resistant sprinter.

Departure from San Francesco al Campo at 12.25 for a stage that should end around 16.00 in Cherasco. OA Sport offers you the LIVE LIVE text of the second stage of the Giro Next Gen 2023 with real-time updates starting at 13.00. Do not miss!
