LIVE | Trump lashes out at WHO: “They screwed up” Abroad

You can read previous developments regarding the coronavirus in the live blog from Monday 6 April.

The World Health Organization WHO has “thoroughly ruined” the fight against the coronavirus, according to President Donald Trump, by letting his ears hang on to China. Trump once again blew his heart on Twitter on Tuesday.

“For some reason, although largely sponsored by the US, but very China-focused. Let’s take a closer look at that,” Trump said. According to the president, it was a good thing that he ignored an advice to keep the borders open to China. “Why did they give us such a rattling recommendation?”

The US is now the country with the most corona infections found.

A spokesman for the UN organization WHO rejected Trump’s criticism. It is clear to UN chief Antonio Guterres that “the WHO, under the leadership of Dr. Tedros, has done a great job” by helping countries on a large scale with equipment, training and guidelines. “The WHO demonstrates the power of the international health system.”
