Offenbach – The 33rd match day is just around the corner in the Regionalliga Südwest and Kickers Offenbach is playing at home. On Friday (May 19) from 7 p.m. in the Sparda-Bank-Hessen-Stadion they will face Bahlinger SC.

Bahlinger SC visiting the OFC

Kickers Offenbach has not only (once again) missed promotion, the 2022/23 season threatens to be one of the worst in the club’s recent history. If the descent continues, it could theoretically go down to tenth place – where opponent Bahlingen is currently. The OFC had only finished worse once in the regional league: in 2016/17, the Kickers under coach Oli Reck finished twelfth, but only because nine points were deducted due to the insolvency. Adding these would have put the OFC in sixth place.

The team around head coach Alfred Kaminski would like to prevent this disgrace at all costs. Especially since those responsible at OFC are already busy working in the background on a powerful team for the coming round. Even on the public holiday, the new Managing Director Sport, Christian Hock, held talks. On Wednesday he met President Joachim Wagner and presented himself to the team on Tuesday. “They were good words,” reported winger Dominik Wanner.

The OFC could also use good words after the 2-0 away defeat in Mainz last weekend. The Kickers have not scored a point or scored a goal in four games. It will therefore be particularly exciting to see whether the strikers Dejan Bozic and Mike Feigenspan, who both only sat in the stands in Mainz although they were physically fit, will return to the squad against Bahlingen.

OFC wants victory against Bahlingen

At least from a Kickers point of view: Even for opponents Bahlingen, who are in the secured midfield, things have not really gone well in the past few weeks. Coach Dennis Bührer’s team only got one point in the last four games.

Downhill or not, for the former OFC player Hock the route for the game on Friday evening is clear. “I want a home win. In the last home game you have to burn and show that the criticism was perhaps a bit unjustified,” said the new sports director this week. Winger Dominik Wanner took the same line. At a fan meeting, the sentence was repeated several times: “You have to eat grass.” That’s how you want to go into the game to give something back to the fans at the last home game.

The game against Bahlinger SC is the penultimate of the current regional league season. On the last day of the match, the OFC meets Eintracht Trier away from home. (near)
