85.: According to commentator Wolff Fuss, a Sky cameraman was injured in the eye by pyrotechnics from the Cologne guest block. The employee is currently receiving medical treatment.

83.: Kingsley Schindler comes on for Dejan Ljubicic.

82.: Even the players who came on at FC did not improve things. Huseinbasic fritters away a promising counterattack with an imprecise pass.

79.: At Dortmund, Mats Hummels and Tom Rothe come into play.

76.: At FC, Steffen Tigges has been storming for Selke for five minutes, but you can’t see anything of it…

73.: By the way: In the meantime, Anthony Modeste has been substituted on from the guest block with a piercing whistle concert.

70.: Malen and Haller combine through Cologne’s penalty area, in the end it’s Malen who puts it down on Reus and the captain fills the half-dozen.

Goal for Borussia Dortmund

69.: The free kick becomes BVB’s next goal… Dahoud’s shot hits the crossbar and Haller calmly converts the rebound to 5:1.

Goal for Borussia Dortmund

67.: Hübers puts Haller just in front of the penalty area, which gives a free kick from a very dangerous position.

66.: Dortmund are now closer to 5:1 than FC next goal. Dahoud sees the first yellow card of the game.

62.: The FC fans have been shouting “Come on FC!” loudly in antiphon for several minutes. This support is simply unique.

60.: It seems that Ellyes Skhiri is now replacing the substituted Chabot in central defence.

59.: Steffen Baumgart brings in Maina, Martel, Huseinbasic for the disappointing Adamyan, Kainz and Chabot.

58.: Benno Schmitz prevents the 5:1 for BVB. In the sixteenth, the FC defender Guerreiro disrupted decisively in his graduation.

56.: The first change is imminent at FC, with several players getting ready for action on the sidelines.

54.: Davie Selke with the small chance to make it 2:4. However, his header lands just outside the BVB goal.

49.: Despite the manageable performance in the first round, Steffen Baumgart goes into the second half without substitutions.

46.: The pyro supplies at the FC fans do not seem to have been used up by a long shot, the entire block is lit up in red again. The admission controls in front of the stadium were apparently as effective as the FC storm in recent weeks.

Kick-off for the second half

Half-time conclusion: BVB does it in the style of David Copperfield and performs magic in the Signal Iduna Park. Everything is happening far too quickly for the FC defense and so Dortmund deserve a 4-0 lead. At least up to the 42nd minute of the game, because there Davie Selke revived the hopes minimally. It was the striker’s first goal for 1. FC Köln.

halftime

45.: There are two minutes of stoppage time.

42.: That’s the follow-up goal for FC and Davie Selke of all people scores his first goal in the Cologne jersey. Selke gets the ball past BVB keeper Meyer from a tight angle.

Goal for 1. FC Cologne

41.: Even after the 4-0 win for Borussia Dortmund, FC doesn’t seem to be recovering. One can only hope that things don’t go on like this.

36.: Marvin Schwäbe doesn’t seem to have had enough and gives BVB the 4-0. The FC keeper deflects Donyell Malen’s shot into his own goal.

Goal for Borussia Dortmund

31.: The thing is already decided after a good half hour. Reus with an outstanding goal after submission by Guerreiro.

Goal for Borussia Dortmund

30.: The black and yellow now settle in the opposing half. The FC have to be extremely careful that they don’t get under the wheels here.

27.: A clear handball by Dortmund’s Dahoud in his own penalty area will not be penalized. That could have been a penalty, but Siebert doesn’t even look at it.

24.: In dire need, Schlotterbeck clears in front of Skhiri, who was in a good position after a heber pass from Selke. FC shows a small reaction to the BVB double strike.

21.: Adamyan with a chance to connect, but the ball hits the post! BVB substitute keeper Meyer looked very insecure when Adamyan shot.

17.: This is the double blow for Dortmund! Reus hits Guerreiro with a hoe, who lays it on Haller and the Frenchman shoots the ball into the corner.

Goal for Borussia Dortmund

15.: That’s the lead for BVB and everything is just going too fast for the FC defence. Malen gets through on the right flank and pinpoints Guerreiro, who tips the ball past Schwäbe and gives Dortmund an early lead.

Goal for Borussia Dortmund

13.: Both FC and BVB are currently lacking in precision when passing – so the fans in Signal-Iduna-Park have not seen any chances to score.

10.: Selke gets the first corner for FC in a duel against Schlotterbeck. However, Kainz’s cross is not dangerous.

8.: The Cologne appendage ignites everything that is left of New Year’s Eve and wraps the away block in a radiant red.

5.: Chabot sovereign against Malen in his own sixteen. The “defense Jeff” prevented Borussia Dortmund’s first chance.

3.: Both teams start the game cheerfully – BVB takes control of the game.

1.: The ball is rolling in Signal Iduna Park.

kick-off

6:22 p.m.: Record: FC and Borussia Dortmund have met 93 times in the Bundesliga so far. 29 games went to Cologne, 39 to BVB and 25 games ended in a point sharing.

6:18 p.m.: Steffen Baumgart said about BVB at the press conference on Thursday: “I don’t see any weaknesses. But that’s not bad either. We don’t go there expecting to win. But we can win. We will act boldly and attack. Nevertheless, we know that a good performance does not automatically mean a good result.”

6:14 p.m.: Edin Terzic on the Sky microphone before the game: “I think you can see what FC are up to. No matter where and against whom, we felt that in the first leg and in the past few years. We hope that they will get tired and then space will be created for us.”

6:10 p.m.: The first leg: On October 1, 2022, FC won 3-2 in the Rhein-Energie-Stadion. Back then, Dejan Ljubicic, Florian Kainz and Steffen Tigges met for FC. Can the ex-BVB striker score against his old colleagues again today? At least it will be difficult, as the 24-year-old initially only sits on the bench.

6:04 p.m.: Good news: In the last five games under referee Daniel Siebert, FC have not lost once. With the referee from Berlin, the billy goats have recently had three wins and two draws.

5:46 p.m.: In today’s duel, the two players who have been fouled the most this Bundesliga season will meet. BVB star Bellingham has been put down 59 times so far, FC captain Jonas Hector tops the list with 60 fouls.

5.40 p.m.: Sitting on the bench at FC: Horn, Soldo, Martel, Huseinbasic, Schindler, Maina, Tigges, Lemperle and Downs.

5:36 p.m.: BVB has to do without a few regular players today. Winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is out with a shoulder problem. Ex-FC professional Salih Özcan has to pass because of a cold and midfield clearer Emre Can is not in the squad because of a yellow card suspension. As in the last few weeks, regular goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is also out.

5:34 p.m.: Here’s how the hosts from Dortmund start: Meyer – Ryerson, Schlotterbeck, Süle, Wolf – Dahoud, Bellingham, Guerreiro – Malen, Reus, Haller

5:32 p.m.: Surprisingly, Sargis Adamyan was in the starting XI against BVB and stormed alongside Davie Selke.

5.30 p.m.: The FC line-up is there: Schwäbe – Hector, Chabot, Hübers, Schmitz – Skhiri – Olesen, Ljubicic, Kainz – Selke, Adamyan
