LIVE | ‘One in six Dutch people still celebrate Christmas with a larger group’ | Inland

One in six people will celebrate Christmas with more people than the rules allow. This is reported by EenVandaag after research that was held among thousands of Dutch people after the press conference of Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge on Tuesday evening.

Six out of ten people think it is a good thing that no more than three extra people are allowed to join us at Christmas, even though this makes the holidays a lot more austere. The contamination numbers leave the cabinet no choice, some say to the panel.

One in six will therefore not respond to the cabinet’s call to celebrate Christmas in a small circle. Most of them plan to join five people outside their household or more at the Christmas dinner. Half of the people who celebrate Christmas with others (48 percent) say that they will not be able to keep a distance of 1.5 meters.

Lonely Christmas

A large group (39 percent) says that the corona measures make it less interested in the holidays this year. One in five (20 percent) expects to feel lonely during the holidays because of the restrictions. And that applies to all age groups.

The survey, held on 8 and 9 December 2020, involved 24,154 members of the EenVandaag Opinion panel.
