Liudmyla Monastryska was given a standing ovation by the audience at New York’s Met Opera when she returned to the stage during the encores after Saturday’s performance of Turandot. Appearing wearing a flag in the colors of her country, the Ukrainian soprano replaced Anna Netrebko, whom the New York institution had deprogrammed.

The appearance of Liudmyla Monastryska wearing the Ukrainian flag during the encores after the performance of Turandot drew cheers from the public on Saturday in New York. Liudmyla Monastryska will take part in the tour of the Ukrainian Orchestra for Freedom
From the start of the conflict, Liudmyla Monastryska spoke out publicly against Russian intervention. The images of his moving embrace with the Russian mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova at the end of a performance ofAida by Giuseppe Verdi at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples at the end of February had gone around the world on social networks.
