List of Best Selling Car Brands in May 2022, Hyundai Gas Keeps Wuling Over again

Car sales in Indonesia throughout May 2022 experienced a drastic decline. According to data released by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), throughout the fifth month of 2022, wholesale distribution only reached 49,453 units, down from 82,279 units in April.

Even so, retail sales (from dealers to consumers), experienced a significant decline. If in April retail sales reached 81,615 units, then in May only 61,558 units.

The decline in sales is thought to be related to Eid al-Fitr which falls on May 1-2. The celebration of Eid al-Fitr makes working days in May fewer than April or the previous months.

As for the best-selling brands did not change much. Since the first month of 2022, Toyota has often been at the top. Despite the decline in May, Toyota still has a market share of 30.8%. In total, during the five months of 2022, there have been 122,170 Toyota cars distributed wholesale.

Then what is interesting is the competition between Hyundai and Wuling. The two of them in the last few months have often crossed paths.

The launch of the new Ioniq 5 electric car seems to have contributed to Hyundai’s sales. On the other hand, the Creta SUV also looks increasingly enlivening the streets in the country. In May, Hyundai sales reached 1,517 units. Meanwhile, Wuling’s sales only reached 804 units. 3. Daihatsu: 6.981 unit
4. Suzuki: 6,026 units
5. Mitsubishi Motors: 5.414 unit
6. Isuzu: 2.481 unit
7. Hino: 1.871 unit
8. Hyundai: 1.532 unit
9. Mitsubishi Fuso: 1.307 unit
10. Wuling: 815 units

Retailsales:

1. Toyota: 18,000 units
2. Daihatsu: 11.364 unit
3. Mitsubishi Motors: 6.707 unit
4. Honda: 7.758 unit
5. Suzuki: 6,316 units
