Lisbon’s urban periphery, Covid-19 and the backwardness of the Government | Opinion

Finally, the Government approved specific measures to closely monitor people with active cases of covid-19, in areas where there are significant outbreaks with a risk of community contamination, specifically in 19 parishes in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML): all parishes in Amadora, all in Odivelas, six urban parishes in Sintra, two in Loures and one in Lisbon. The government decided well to act, although it took time to do so. Some image of State authority and concern for public health returned, after the contradictory attitudes and messages from the Government, the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic and the yield to pressure from the economy.
