Lionel Messi’s Next Milestone: Achieving Over 100 Goals for Argentina

Lionel Messi has broken another career barrier. As the third player in football history, the 35-year-old has over 100 goals for the national team. Messi scored a hat-trick for Argentina in the friendly against Curacao and now has 102 goals for the Albiceleste.

Around 17 years ago, on March 1, 2006, Messi scored his first goal for the three-time world champion. Now he has reached another milestone with 102 hits. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (122 goals for Portugal) and Ali Daei (109 goals for Iran) have also scored 100+ goals for their national team in their careers.

“You can’t describe Messi in words. He’s the best in the world and he shows it game after game, day after day. Every time he touches the ball he makes you smile,” enthused team-mate Nicolas Gonzalez.

It’s only logical that Messi is also Argentina’s all-time record goalscorer. Far behind follow Gabriel Batistuta with 56 goals and Sergio Agüero with 41 goals.
