Football icon Lionel Messi (36) was officially presented to his new club Inter Miami on Saturday. The Argentine is looking forward to taking on new challenges.

Inter Miami, which plays in the North American soccer league MLS, presented the new signing in a video on Twitter Saturday night.

The transfer has been a poorly kept secret after Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of June.

The Argentine is said to have signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with his new club, and the agreement will secure him around NOK 620 million in annual income.

– I am very much looking forward to embarking on this new chapter in my career. This is a fantastic opportunity, and together we will continue to build on this brilliant project, he said.

Messi will, unsurprisingly, wear shirt number 10 at his new club.

Many consider Messi to be the best soccer player of all time. He acquired iconic status for his exploits in Barcelona and has been awarded the Ballon d’Or award a total of seven times. In December last year, he topped everything by leading Argentina to a long-awaited World Cup gold.

Messi is likely to make his debut for Inter Miami on July 21. Then the team plays against Mexican Cruz Azul in the North American tournament Leagues Cup.
