Linz: Young dancers secured eleven medals in Spain

There is a festive mood in the “Cooper Dance Academy” in Linz: At this year’s Dance World Cup in San Sebastian, the young dancers won three gold, five silver and three bronze medals.

LINZ. The dancers of the “Cooper Dance Academy” prevailed against 6,000 applicants from 36 nations at the Dance World Cup in Spain. From June 24th to July 2nd, the young dancers achieved top positions at this year’s world championships. Austria started with a total of four ballet schools. The “Cooper Dance Academy” was the most successful nationwide with eleven medals.

Rain of medals for the “Cooper Dance Academy”

The dancers competed in a total of four age groups from four to 25 years. The disciplines danced were classical ballet, tap, jazz, show dance, song & dance, national, acro, street dance and commercial. England emerged as the most successful nation from the Dance World Cup. Austria took the excellent tenth place and was able to secure a total of 16 medals. Of these, three gold, five silver and three bronze medals went to dancers from the “Cooper Dance Academy” in Linz. “This success is not to be taken for granted due to the strong worldwide competition in this competition,” says the director of the dance school, Helen Cooper, in praise of the performance of her athletes. Together with Ashleigh Cooper she choreographed the dances for the competition and rehearsed them with the dancers.

The medalists

Linzer Emma Fenzl convinced with her solo in the Jazz & Showdance category and thus secured victory in the age group of up to 9-year-olds. The other two gold medals were awarded in the same age group for group dances in the disciplines “National and Folklore” and “Song & Dance”. Chiara Berger from Leonding and Elena Prandstetter from Lichtenberg won the silver medal with their tap duo in the 10 to 13 year olds category. They achieved the highest score of all Austrian applicants.
