Limerick-Based Transport Firm Ordered to Pay Almost €110,000 in Compensation to 11 Former Employees for Unfair Dismissal

Shannon Transport & Warehouse Company, also known as STL Logistics, has been ordered by the Workplace Relations Commission to pay €109,040 in compensation to 11 employees who were dismissed en masse. The employees were sacked due to concerns about “unscheduled and undocumented” alcohol deliveries to Dublin pub, the Bridge Tavern. However, the WRC found that the workers had been unfairly dismissed and that their actions did not amount to gross misconduct. The individual compensation payments range from €21,000 to €2,320. Earlier this year, colleague Sean Corcoran, whose claim was pursued by the trade union Siptu, also secured €5,200 for unfair dismissal and €2,720 in notice pay.
