The National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT) alerted the public that a new form of fraud has been detected consisting of sending false notifications to people who import, telling them to deposit the payment of a “fine” for non-existent infractions in a personal bank account.
In this way the call He warned about the new modality where users receive false notifications about a “fine” for not paying customs duties and are ordered to pay it into a personal bank account in exchange for their goods “not being seized.”
Scammers use the WhatsApp messaging application to send these notifications to potential victims, using apocryphal documents with the logos of call and from an international courier company, in which it is noted that the value of the purchase of imported goods exceeds the established limit and that, for that reason, they must pay a “fine” otherwise the goods would be seized.
In these communications they are told that in order to “regularize” this violation immediately, they make available the “facility” of paying the “fine” into the personal bank account of a “supervisor” of the courier company, supposedly authorized by the call and by the aforementioned company.
The call reminds all citizens that under no circumstances will the entity ask foreign trade users to pay customs and tax obligations into a person’s bank account; and that this modality is typical of a scam.
