Zapping Our Mondial CIES: the top 10 most expensive forwards
While sportingly, the place of Ligue 1 in the five major European championships is increasingly discussed, financially, it cannot be. Indeed, according to the International Center for Sport Studies (CIES), three French clubs are at the top of the ranking for the financial results of the last ten mercatos, i.e. since the summer of 2016. Thus the LOSC (+235 million euros ), AS Monaco (+202 million) and OL (+167 million) are the best students of the European Big 5 ahead of Sampdoria (+147 million) and Atalanta (+137 million). Note the sixth place of ASSE (+113 million), seventh place for Bordeaux (+ 91 million) and tenth place for Montpellier (+80 million). Even if the losses recorded by French clubs with the Mediapro fiasco and the financial crisis caused by the Covid-19 are enormous, they can therefore be amortized by the excellent financial management of French clubs during the mercatos.
