The supervisory board of the Amsterdam theater house Likeminds has reacted with shock to the accusations against director Jarrod Francisco. He is accused by various theater makers of sexually transgressive behaviour.
NRC reports that several theater makers had left because of Francisco’s transgressive behavior. “We are very touched by the fact that such a number of (former) employees and stakeholders of Likeminds have had these experiences and that the extent of this has not been reported by us before,” the supervisory board said in a statement.
For the article, the newspaper spoke with sixteen (former) employees of the theater collective. The director of Likeminds is said to have had relationships with several employees over the years. In addition to those relationships, he would behave flirtatiously and touch employees unsolicited.
A creator filed an official complaint in 2022 about the general manager’s “dominant, sexist behavior”. Likeminds’ financial reporting is also said to have “major flaws”. The Supervisory Board will consider “the future and talk to employees, makers and stakeholders”. The council also promises that a more extensive statement will be made soon.
