(getty) | Photo: Sport 5 Welcome to the replay: Liverpool qualified last night (Tuesday) for the final of the League Cup, and will meet Chelsea on February 25 at Wembley – for a replay of the final from two years ago, when Liverpool won on penalties. Jurgen Klopp’s Mighty Reds finished 1:1 with Fulham, won 2:3 on aggregate – and are one game away from the title.
In the 11th minute, Liverpool scored first: Jarel Kwansa set up a comfortable situation for Luis Dias in the box and he beat Brand Leno. In the 77th minute, Fulham managed to equalize, after Harry Wilson set up Aisa Diop. Until the end, Liverpool held on – and managed to return to the League Cup final, for the 14th time in their history – more than any other English team.
As mentioned, Liverpool will meet Chelsea again – two years after the last time. So, in February 2022, it ended 0:0 at the end of 120 minutes against the Blues, and got caught up in a thrilling penalty shootout that lasted 11 whole rounds, until Chelsea goalkeeper Kaffee (today at Real Madrid) missed, Liverpool goalkeeper Kaiomin Kelleher scored – and the trophy went to Liverpool for the ninth time. Will there be a tenth time as well? We will have to see that at the end of next month.
