A question to start with: since when had a French player not kept his title of top scorer in the championship? Alexandre Lacazette? Andre Pierre Gignac ? Karim Benzema ? Djibril Cisse? None of these. You have to go back to Stéphane Guivarc’h (top scorer in 1996-1997 and 1997-1998 with AJ Auxerre) to see such a performance for a tricolor. Performance reissued by Kylian Mbappé, top scorer last season and still in the lead with his 18 goals (in 20 matches, please) in 2019-2020.

October 19, 2019 will however remain an even more important date in his career. At 16 years and 2 months old, he started his professional career facing Dijon. The nugget of Lyon is the youngest player to have played in Ligue 1 this season.

Valentin Rongier has many qualities. His incredible transfer finally did a lot of good for Olympique de Marseille who found with the former Nantais the counterpart of Morgan Sanson in the midfield. Pressing, activity, forward projection, Rongier knows how to do many things. What he failed to do however was to score with the OM jersey. However, it is not for lack of trying with 41 shots. No one has tried so much without finding the net in our championship in 2019-2020.

Thilo Kehrer hasn’t played much this season. And due to a foot injury, he was kept away from the courts from August to December. He can however boast of having won the seven matches he has played. No player has played this much without knowing the draw or defeat. In contrast, a complicated season for Quentin Cornette in Amiens (6 draws, 7 defeats) and Kouadio Koné in Toulouse (1 draw, 12 defeats) who did not know the taste of victory.

Eduardo Camavinga is THE revelation of the season in league 1. His talent has splashed the championship and could take him away from Rennes very quickly. On August 18, he delivered an XXL performance in Rennes’ victory against PSG. That day, at 16 years and 281 days, he delivered his first assist in Ligue 1. No player younger than him has been involved in a goal in the five major championships this season.
