Light snow is possible this Wednesday in some parts of the Chicago area. | Univision Chicago WGBO

CHICAGO, Illinois.- After a short break from the snow, this Wednesday the white element will be back with the passage of a small system that will not leave significant accumulation but will be generating slippery conditions on roads.

Light snow is expected in the morning especially south of Interstate 80, although it could briefly increase in intensity.

In the afternoon the system will leave the area leaving behind accumulations of less than one inch in northern sectors and 1-2 inches in the south.

Temperatures at dawn will range from 5 degrees Fahrenheit in areas near the city to -5 degrees in northwestern counties, with wind chills between -5 to -15 degrees.

During the day, the maximums will remain between 12 to 18 degrees, while the minimums at night will be 3 to 8 degrees.

On Thursday the trend of mostly cloudy skies will continue, maximum temperatures hovering around 20 degrees in the city of Chicago and the possibility of snow in the afternoon and evening, with accumulation mainly in northern counties.

We expect the chill to intensify for Valentine’s weekend with freezing temperatures at night on Saturday and Sunday.
