Liepaja Hotel “Promenade Hotel” has observed a high influx of local tourists this summer season and forecasts that in the second half of the year the interest will remain as high as at the end of 2019, the hotel manager Inese Židele told the portal “Delfi”.

Growth was observed in the first months of this year, but the performance was significantly affected by the spread of Covid-19 and related restrictions, Židele admitted.
“Ensuring the highest precautions, we were able to adjust the operation of the hotel to make it safe for our visitors. During the summer season, we observed a high influx of local tourists in Liepaja, and we expect interest to remain as high as in the second half of 2019,” she said.
Last year, Promenade Hotel achieved the largest turnover in its history – 1.9 million euros, which is 7.4% more than a year earlier, and earned a profit of 152 thousand euros.
During the reporting period, the number of guests increased by 6.67%, reaching 19,344 persons.
The proportion of guests served from Latvia and abroad remained at the level of previous years – 60% of visitors were local tourists, while 40% were foreign guests. The largest share of foreign guests was from Lithuania, Estonia, Germany and Scandinavia.
In order to adapt to the growing demands of the industry, in 2019 the renovation and modernization of the rooms was continued, paying special attention to the construction of new, comfortable bathrooms, as well as the number of beds was increased by 4%, the hotel manager said.
The Promenade Hotel is a 5-star superior design hotel with 58 standard and deluxe rooms, spacious conference rooms, a spa area and a fitness area. Last year, the hotel paid 505,392 euros in taxes to the Latvian state budget and employed 72 people.
“Promenade Hotel” belongs to the Kesenfeld family, which last year opened another hotel in Liepaja – “Art Hotel Roma”. The hotel was registered in March 2010 and has a share capital of € 802,845. The sole owner of the hotel is Liepaja Investments. Ivars Kesenfelds is indicated as the real beneficiary.
In 2018, Promenade Hotel had a turnover of 1.773 million euros, which is 12.7% more than in 2017, but the profit decreased by 62.2% and was 24,898 euros.
