In addition to Globo, Disney also used its preference on paid platforms to choose Botafogo’s clashes, which will be shown on ESPN and Star+. Paramount+, which has the secondary package in paid media, chose Red Bull Bragantino and will have total exclusivity for the São Paulo team’s matches against Águilas Doradas-COL. The two clashes were scheduled for February 20th and 27th, Tuesdays, also at 9:30 pm.
In the knockout stages, Globo can choose only one game to show on the first and second round, that is, it is not allowed to broadcast two simultaneous matches to different locations, a common practice in the Brasileirão and currently used in the Libertadores only in the group stage. The choice of broadcaster is free at this stage. In paid media, ESPN alternates choices with Paramount, always preferring the first option.
Globo also has rights to the first phase, which does not feature Brazilian teams, and will use Globoplay and ge to show the round-trip of the clash that will define Botafogo’s opponent in the next phase. Aurora and Melgar will face each other at the broadcaster’s traditional time slot, even though there is no broadcast on open TV in Brazil. Matches will be played on February 7th and 14th, Wednesdays, at 9:30 pm.
Phase 3 broadcasts will only be decided after all four clashes have been defined. If Botafogo and Red Bull Bragantino are successful in the first dispute, the cross made by yesterday’s draw will put the two Brazilians face to face in the dispute for a single place in the group stage of the Libertadores, in which Brazil already has guaranteed representatives the Fluminense, São Paulo, Palmeiras, Grêmio, Atlético-MG and Flamengo.
