Liar Thief Bandit – Deadlights (2021)

And so, as it says in the headline, this is what LIAR THIEF BANDIT brings us, a third album where they once again suckle from the tit of action rock and garage punk, a return to their beginnings and their debut after a second album with Straight Ahead (2018) of a certain experimentation with compositions that are less immediate and more worked on in developments, giving way to hard rock but also with indie rock close to Foo Fighters. For many it meant ‘an album of discord’ but, honestly, for this one who writes to you it wasn’t such a big deal envisioning a future outside of the ‘Copter’ typecasting of their debut while still being themselves. Dare to taste the sparks of his splendid new work, Mike Jacobson (vocals, guitar), William Grube (drums) and Niclas Dahre (bass, vocals) are waiting for us to rock hard (albeit with melody), we’re going to Malmö! , Sweden!… GO!!!!!!!!…

‘CATCH AND RELEASE’!!!!…

And what a decibel festival awaits you!!!, as the Grande Royale have also confirmed with their new work, the LTB’s third studio album is a declaration of intent in favor of action rock with which the entire world we met them. Deadlights (2021) it comes in like a fucking shot, it’s not a linear album, far from it, nor is it an album focused on making guitars bleed and going to the pinion at all times, but it is a more direct, raw album despite the fact that it sounds crystal clear and disciplined melodic in its rhythm, melodies and choruses. Sharp hits like “Good Enough”, “’Cept The Truth”, the huge “Limitations” (what a finale!), “Hindsight” or “Feather” so ‘hellaca’ him and with choruses ‘a la Kiss’ show the desire of rocking really hard and at full throttle, but we also have cuts where the guitar/melody struggle is a whole festival of adrenaline and Scandinavian rock dancing, case of the initial “Deadlights” or his next “Brand New Day” very close to the parameters of ThinLizzy. They also sound hesitant in “I’ve Got A Lot Of Money Comin’ In” or super catchy and endearing in “Catch and Release” and I would go on and on explaining the reasons for my enjoyment, but of course, do you need me to reveal all the surprises? contained in such a magnificent album?… I think not. It’s your turn to enjoy!!!
