Met Gala 2024: A Spectacular Night for LGBTQ+ Celebrities

Hello Out readers!

How was your Met Gala Monday?

It was a super busy day here for the Out team, but also one of our favorite days of the year!

It was a big year for LGBTQ+ celebs at the Met Gala, as Colman Domingo was undoubtedly one of the best dressed men of the night, and other queer celebs like Keke Palmer, Dan Levy, Omar Apollo, and Andrew Scott also stunned.

We loved seeing queer couples walk the carpet together, including Queen Latifah and her partner, and singer Sam Smith and their partner Christian Cowan.

Did you have a favorite look from the night? Was it someone other than Zendaya? Click here to check out the Out team’s top ten favorite looks from the night.

Ariana Grande’s Surprise Encore

As if the Gala and carpet weren’t enough, this year, attendees were also treated to a surprise concert from Ariana Grande! The singer and actor performed several of her own hits, as well as “Once Upon a Dream” from Sleeping Beauty. For her final number, she invited her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo on stage, and the two dueted on “When You Believe” from The Prince of Egypt. What an amazing night!

Woman Crush Wednesday

Our Woman Crush Wednesday is one of the legends, Queen Latifah! She walked the Met Gala red carpet with her longtime partner Eboni Nichols, reminding us all why we love her so much.

This Day in Out History

Three years ago on May 8, 2021, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America made history when it elected trans pastor Reverend Megan Rohrer of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in San Francisco as its bishop.

Inspirational Quote

“Florals… For spring? Groundbreaking.”
– This quote from the one and only Miranda Priestly felt especially apt following this year’s Met Gala theme and the very literal ways many stars interpreted it.
