The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune yesterday received the vice-presidents of the Libyan Presidential Council, Moussa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, the presidency of the Republic said on his official Facebook page. During this hearing, discussions focused on the state of bilateral relations between the two countries. The audience was also used to “discuss the latest developments in the Libyan case, including the management of the transitional phase in accordance with the roadmap adopted,” added the press release. On this occasion, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed Algeria’s “unlimited support for the Libyan brothers for the reconstruction of the Libyan state capable of preserving its sovereignty and its unity”. In the same vein, the Head of State reiterated “Algeria’s willingness to host national reconciliation meetings, in response to requests from the Libyan brothers”, adds the same source. Indeed, Algeria was the most qualified to lead and support national reconciliation in Libya, as recognized by the head of the Libyan unity government, Abdelhamid Dbeibah during his visit to Algeria at the end of May, during which he received by Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said yesterday on this subject, the Secretary General of the Consultative Council of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), Saïd Mokadem, who called for “to intensify cooperation between the two brotherly countries to strengthen their strategic place in the Arab Maghreb region ”. Algeria, which enjoys “diplomatic expertise” and has “pioneering experience in national reconciliation” is the most qualified, more than others, to lead national reconciliation in Libya, to as much as it campaigned throughout the Libyan crisis to preserve the unity of the Libyan territories and maintain their sovereignty. Algeria is aware that a stagnation of the Libyan crisis could in the long term destabilize a large part of the region.
Algeria thus confirms its support and its unlimited solidarity with Libya to help it overcome the crisis and ensures to support the efforts of the Libyan authorities aimed at restoring political and security stability and consecrating national reconciliation, through the unification of companies in anticipation of the next important deadlines.
At the end of the meeting, the vice-president of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, thanked President Tebboune for the warm welcome and underlined the depth of relations between the two countries, declaring: “Our thanks and our gratitude to the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the welcome and hospitality. ”
The same official also renewed his thanks to President Tebboune for the positions which support the stability of Libya, adding that “we look forward to Algeria supporting us in our future paths and in the next political dialogue in Berlin”, in anticipation of the next elections scheduled for the end of December. Previously, the vice-presidents of the Council met with the Prime Minister, Abdelaziz Djerad, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sabri Boukadoum, and the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Regional Planning, Kamel Beldjoud.
