The price of sending letters and parcels will not increase next year. La Poste wants to reduce the costs of Swiss companies and help them in a simple way, by allowing them better financial planning.

Many companies are still struggling with the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, La Poste recalls in a press release on Tuesday. To help relieve them, it waives general price adjustments for letter and parcel mailings.

Due to the decline in counter activities, the decrease in mailings and the shortfall in the real estate sector of La Poste, it will not however be able to freeze its prices indefinitely, she specifies. The increases are therefore carried over to subsequent years.

One-off adaptations

In addition, La Poste has decided to extend the discount on parcels sent online for an additional year. In 2021, customers will continue to benefit from a reduction of 1.50 francs for any package registered online whose weight does not exceed 10 kg.

In 2021, the changes will be limited to ad hoc adaptations to the offer of special product services. This will include unaddressed advertising mail, which will now be distributed within three to four days of receipt. This does not however apply to PromoPost “Saturday” or “next day” services.

Customers will now have the option of having mail kept during a holiday period sent on Saturdays as grouped mail. Delivery on Saturday will cost 10 francs from 2021, while on working days this service is included in the basic price.
