Let It Be Wrong, This Is The Difference B30 & D100 Tested by Pertamina

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Pertamina (Persero) has just conducted a performance test (road test) using the D-100. Then what is the difference between B30 and D100?

Deputy CEO of PT Pertamina International Refinery (KPI) Budi Santoso Syarif tried to explain the difference between these two types of products. He explained that D100 stands for diesel diesel which is derived from 100% vegetable material. While B30 is biosolar which is a mixture of 30% fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) and 70% diesel.

The difference is in its application, which is currently in the gas station, B30 is mixed in Pertamina’s fuel terminals first. While D100 is palm oil that has been cleaned from sap, odor, and others produces Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) which is processed in refineries to produce D100.

“So that’s the difference in its application,” said Syarif in Power Lunch, CNBC Indonesia (Monday, 07/20/2020).

He further explained the difference from the B100 and D100. According to him both are from palm oil, but for B100 to use FAME. D100 is made from palm oil, but is operated at Pertamina’s oil refinery.

“FAME contains oxygen and the bonds are double so it still contains water, 30% capability in the car industry,” he explained.

While the D100 is more environmentally friendly and has a small oxygen content, so it does not cause water. “Environmentally friendly because the carbon dioxide gas released is less than B100 or FAME,” he explained.

Previously, Pertamina’s Managing Director Nicke Widyawati said Pertamina had the duty and important role of carrying out the mandate of the government to maintain national energy security, for that Pertamina continued to strive to bring innovations that could have a wide impact on the Indonesian nation and state.

This step is in line with the direction of President Joko Widodo who stresses the importance of producing Biofuel by utilizing domestic natural resources to build national energy security, independence and sovereignty.

“Pertamina expresses its gratitude for the support of the government and all parties so that Pertamina continues to develop green energy such as B30 and B50 and D-100. Pertamina has completed the preparation of refineries and red and white catalysts, which will later be continued with economic studies,” Nicke said on the sidelines a visit to the RBDPO processing facility at the Dumai Refinery on Wednesday (07/15/2020) quoted from official information.
