This is game day at Montréal Toronto! The Canadian will receive the visit of the Penguins – he will be the home club in games # 3 and # 4 – at Scotiabank Arena. Since the streak is equal 1 to 1, the winner tonight will take a serious option on the streak (three-of-five, remember).
Victory seems to be the only option considered … https://t.co/dhv6OoshWG

Last Saturday night, over 2 million people – mostly in the United States – tune in to NBC to watch part of the Canadiens game vs Penguins.
We were impatiently awaiting the ratings of this first game in Quebec, especially on TVA Sports (French broadcaster).
And they are arrivals last night.
An average of 709,000 listeners watched the game, with a peak of almost 950,000 at some point in the game, higher than any sports content aired in August, but still lower than playoff matches (involving the Canadian) in the spring. Does the revival of professional sport generate less interest than initially anticipated?
Saturday’s Canadiens-Penguins game drew 709,000 fans to TVA Sports, with a peak of 945,000. Market share: 32.1.

The specialty chain owned by Quebecor nonetheless captured nearly a third of the market share in its niche.
Add to these 945,000 people all those who decided to follow the meeting in English, on the radio or via a stream (illegal or not) on the web.
Remember that Quebecor pays an additional premium for these Canadiens playoff games … a bonus that must be made profitable. if possible.
Note that more than a million people had watched the preparatory game between the Maple Leafs and the Canadian last Tuesday night … while the game was also broadcast on TVA.
It should be understood that several Quebecers canceled their subscription to TVA Sports following the jamming of the channel for Bell Télé subscribers in 2019 and a tweet (anti-regions?) of Jean-Charles Lajoie during confinement.
The question that kills : Would there have been a better audience if the Canadiens games vs Penguins were currently playing on RDS?
I expect those numbers to be a bit smaller for last Monday’s game.
How many will we be in front of our television sets tonight for this important game # 3? Will we be entitled to a good show? Will Carey Price still do the job? Will the attack wake up? Will the CH be downgraded?
The answer from 8:00 p.m. this evening.

Why Alexis Lafreniere is in a unique spot, how players on opposing teams are interacting inside the bubble, why you shouldn’t expect future play-ins and a beef about playoff stats. My latest: https://t.co/ocutQe6mF4
