Daniel Auteuil will not stop at Les Lilas on April 21. The actor was supposed to present his musical show “Déjeuner en l’air” at the Garde-Chasse theater but the municipal hall closed its doors unexpectedly this weekend. The reopening date is not yet known.
The problem lies with the roof of the building, inaugurated in 1905: during an inspection in anticipation of summer work, “a design office commissioned by the town hall noted that the framework was showing signs of weakness and recommended that we to no longer use the current grill, ”explains the mayor (PS) of Les Lilas, Lionel Benharous. The grill is the metal support located above the stage where pulleys, cables and light are hung. “If there is no more light, there is no more theater and therefore, we must close”, summarizes the elected official.
A sum of approximately 100,000 euros had recently been voted by the municipal council in order to change the grill during the summer, when there are no shows or cinema sessions in the building. The results of this control oblige the city to modify its plans.
“We are studying an alternative solution, which is to install a grill on a gantry placed on the ground, details Lionel Benharous. If the bearing capacity is sufficient, we will buy one to install the light. “If it is technically possible, this solution could make it possible to maintain the shows until the summer. In addition to the cinema sessions, the managers of the hall are forced to cancel the programming for the next five weeks. The centenary of the dance association L’étoile d’or, which was to be held next weekend, will be postponed, as will possibly the conservatory festival, which was to be held in May. “We reimburse the tickets or we reschedule for next season, promises the mayor.
