Neymar extends his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. The French newspaper L’Equipe writes that he will sign a contract on Saturday until the summer of 2026. His current contract expires in 2022.
The 29-year-old Brazilian has been playing in Paris since 2017. He came for – still – a record amount from FC Barcelona. The wealthy Paris Saint-Germain at the time paid 222 million euros for the attacker. The last two years there have been rumors that Neymar would like to return to FC Barcelona, but all those rumors have now come to an end.
Neymar has played 112 official games for PSG so far. He scored 85 goals and 51 assists. He previously played at Barcelona for four years, which took him away from FC Santos in Brazil in 2013.
Champions League
In 2011, Nasser bin Ghanim Al-Khelaïfi from Qatar became the owner of the French top club. Since then, the French top club has won the national title seven times. This year it remains to be seen whether the championship will be secured. Lille is four points ahead.
However, a European success has not yet been achieved since the club is in Qatari hands. The club hopes to one day win the Champions League. They were very close last year, but they lost to Bayern Munich in the final. This season it went wrong against Manchester City in the semi-finals.
PSG also hopes to extend the contract with Kylian Mbappé. The contract of the French attacker (22) will continue for one more year.
