Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Martin Qualify for Singapore Open 2023 Quarterfinals

Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Martin made it to the top eight Singapore Open 2023. The victory is proof that The Babies are responsible for their own achievements.

It is known that the Singapore Open is entering its third day. Leo/Daniel are the only men’s doubles representatives who currently qualify for the quarterfinals of the BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament.

Two previous Indonesian men’s doubles representatives Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri were eliminated by their opponents in the second round which took place Thursday (8/6/2023).

The Babies, nicknamed Leo/Daniel, defeated South Korean doubles Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang 21-14, 21-17 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Leo after the match gave thanks for the victory again today, even though his performance was not fully maximized.

“Grateful to be able to play and win, even though the performance is not optimal. Even though we win, we must not feel satisfied quickly and must continue to fight to pursue achievements,” said Leo.

“Earlier we tried to play bolder, we don’t want to lose. We must not let our guard down. We have to focus, especially when we are facing experienced players,” he said.

Together with Daniel, Leo is trying to appear all out in every match. Moreover, two of their previous colleagues had swallowed defeats.

“In this tournament, we keep trying to get better and better. We are still young and will continue to fight and develop,” said Leo.

Daniel also said the same thing. In fact, according to him, the failure of the two previous Indonesian men’s doubles did not affect the performance earlier on the field.

“Frankly, the defeat of the two Indonesian pairs that appeared before did not affect our focus and performance. We have to fight for self-determination. We focus on playing well and winning matches,” said Daniel.

He added, as a young player it is appropriate to continue to progress if you want to continue to compete in the top ranks. Therefore, they learn a lot in every game they play.

“As a young couple, there is still a lot to add. We have to continue the process of developing,” he said Daniel.
