Lenovo launches new product line for creative amateurs

At CES 2020, Lenovo will be presenting two notebooks and a desktop tower especially for creative people.

At the Consumer Electronics Show 2020 in Las Vegas, Lenovo, among other things, unpacks a new product line for creative users. The products are not necessarily aimed at professional creatives, but above all at the home director, the amateur photographer or the website builder.

The two notebooks are Yoga Creator 7 and Ideapad Creator 5, as well as the desktop tower Ideacentre Creator 5.

Lenovo Yoga Creator 7

The Lenovo Yoga Creator 7 wants to mark the top performance of the Creator series. It is a conventional laptop in a metal case with a weight of 1.9 kilograms. The device is equipped with a 15.6 inch screen with Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels). This display is available in a glass version and in a conventional plastic version. The plastic version reduces the device weight to 1.8 kg. At almost 1.8 centimeters, the laptop is visually massive when closed.

A full keyboard with an additional numerical field, which is backlit, and a conventional trackpad are installed. With the processor, the user can choose from various Intel processors up to the tenth generation of the Core i7. The processor is supported by the latest Nvidia GPU, eight or 16 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM and an SSD with a capacity of 256 or 512 gigabytes or one terabyte.

The integrated battery should run for up to 13 hours and can be charged from 0 to 80 percent within one hour using Rapid Charge. The device uses AI to adapt the speed of the integrated fan to the usage. So there should be up to 20 percent more battery life in it.

Lenovo’s Q-Control also ensures that the system performance adapts to the power requirements of the applications used.

Radio is with optional Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth or NFC are not on board. The device offers a Type-C port that supports USB 4, Displayport and Power Delivery 3, two USB 3.1 ports, one HDMI, and an audio jack connection. There is also an SD card reader on the side of the housing.

Windows Hello logs in and out automatically via the fingerprint scanner in the power switch or the infrared webcam in the housing cover. The device wakes up from standby when the lid is opened, which should also work well with one hand.

Lenovo does not name a price or a date for the market launch. The Yoga Creator 7 will only be available in the new color Dark Moss, a kind of army green.

Lenovo Ideapad Creator 5

The Ideapad Creator 5 is also a conventional laptop, which is not unlike the Yoga Creator 7 in terms of the main specs, but is ultimately a bit weaker.

The Creator 5 also comes with a 15.6-inch screen with Full HD resolution, which, however, is not available in a glass version. With a weight of 2.2 kilograms, the IdeaPad is even heavier and the height of the closed device is also more massive at 2.5 centimeters. The built-in battery should offer up to eight hours of runtime.

A full keyboard with an additional numeric numeric field, which is not backlit, is installed, as well as a conventional trackpad. With the processor, the user can choose from various Intel processors up to the tenth generation of the Core i7. The processor can be provided with the latest Nvidia GPU, four, eight or 16 gigabytes of RAM and an SSD with a capacity of 256 or 512 gigabytes or a conventional hard drive with one terabyte.

The radio uses the standard Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and with Bluetooth 5. Three USB ports, one of which is a Type-C, one HDMI, one RJ45, and a combined audio connection connect the device to the outside world.

The Ideapad Creator 5 is also only available in Dark Moss. Lenovo also does not mention a price or a date for the market launch.

Lenovo Ideacentre Creator 5

With the Ideacentre Creator 5, Lenovo brings a conventional desktop tower that is also colored in the new signature color Dark Moss on the front.

In terms of performance, buyers of the Ideacentre can draw on plenty. Everything is possible here up to the latest Intel Core i9. In addition, up to 32 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM and SSD up to one terabyte and HDD up to two terabytes can be installed.

Aside from pure computing power, the Ideacentre lags behind the laptops. The optional WLAN only works according to 802.11 ac and Bluetooth is only available in version 4. Three USB ports of version 3.1, one of them as Type-C, four USB-2 ports, as well as an HDMI and even a VGA connection plus one Gigabit LAN port round off the connection options to the outside world.

Despite the more traditional features, Lenovo is not announcing the availability of the Ideacentre Creator 5 until October 2020 at a price of around $ 1,100. It is questionable whether there will be a significant number of customers for this.
