Leko provides ‘relief’ after Bölöni: a lot of work with the ball on summer internship

Royal Antwerp FC was the first of all clubs in First Division A to leave on a summer internship. On Saturday, Ivan Leko’s troops arrived in Harsewinkel-Marienfeld, where they will be staying until next Saturday. It is obvious that a new wind is blowing in the player group.

Not only the core underwent a thorough facelift, with the departure of roaring names like Sinan Bolat, Dino Arslanagic or Steven Defour and incoming transfers à la Jean Butez and Birger Verstraete. The technical staff is also completely new. It was predictable that Leko (to say the least) leaves a different method than predecessor Laszlo Bölöni.

At the very first training on the internship, you immediately noticed how big the difference is Gazet of Antwerp. While the internships under Bölöni were mainly dominated by large running exercises, the Antwerp players with Leko constantly train with ball. Of course that does not mean that there is no walking. Gears with ball, for example, are very popular with the Croat.

In total, 24 players traveled to Germany. Two more will be added on Sunday afternoon, as acquisition Frank Boya and extender Dieumerci Mbokani are currently on the way. Incidentally, Ivo Rodrigues and Simen Juklerod remain on the side for the time being with minor injuries.
