Legitimate! 2021/2022 Champions League Final Canceled Play in Russia

Nyon

UEFA finally moved the venue 2021/2022 Champions League Final. From before in Saint PetersburgBecomes Paris.

The Champions League final will actually be held at the Kretovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg on 28 May. This is the second time Russia has hosted the event after the first at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, in 2008.

Unfortunately, because the Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused extraordinary turmoil in the Red Bear country. As a result, this will endanger many parties if the final is still held there.

Therefore, UEFA immediately held a meeting of the Executive Committee (Exco), Friday (25/2/2022). From the results of the meeting, it was stated that Saint Petersburg was no longer the venue for the 2021/2022 Champions League Final.

As the substitute host for Saint Petersburg is Paris. The stadium venue is the Stade De France and is the first final to be held there since 2006 when Barcelona met Arsenal.

Not only was Russia deprived of its right to host the Champions League Final, Russia also lost the opportunity to hold matches under the UEFA flag. This means that all Russian and Ukrainian clubs and their respective national teams must compete at neutral venues as long as they are still playing in European competitions.

“The UEFA Executive Committee recently held an extraordinary meeting on the security situation in Europe,” UEFA said in a statement.

“The UEFA Executive Committee has decided to move the venue for the 2021/2022 Champions League Final from Saint Petersburg to the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. The match will take place on Saturday 28 May at 21.00 pm local time.”

UEFA expresses its gratitude and appreciation to French President Emmanuel Macron for his support and commitment so that the most prestigious European football match can be moved to France in the midst of a crisis like this.”

UEFA together with the French government with the full support of all stakeholders are working to ensure the safety of footballers in Ukraine and their families who are struggling with suffering, destruction and massacre.”
