After two years, the legendary jazz club Sounds reopened last night in the Tulpstraat in Ixelles, with a new and young management. For Joachim Caffonnette, ‘Sounds’ is the ultimate jazz club in Brussels.
‘Sounds’ has built up a solid reputation as a jazz café for 35 years under the previous owners. The Brussels Jazz Orchestra (BJO) even originated here. “Today is coming home,” says saxophonist and co-founder of the BJO Frank Vaganée. Bart Defoort of the BJO is also delighted: “Jazz is the most democratic form of music,” he claims.
