Legendary English rock guitarist Jeff Beck has died

The eight-time Grammy winner has died after a sudden bout of bacterial meningitis.

After leaving The Yardbirds, Beck formed his own group, The Jeff Beck Group, but later worked in music both as a solo artist and collaborating in joint projects with other musicians.

As news of Beck’s death emerged, many of his colleagues, including Ozzy Osbourne, Gene Simmons and Paul Young, have paid tribute.

“No one played guitar like Jeff,” Simmons tweeted. “Please reach for the first two Jeff Beck Group albums and appreciate the greatness. Rest in peace.”

In 2015, “Rolling Stone” magazine ranked Beck fifth in the list of 100 greatest guitarists of all time.
