Legault and Dubé discuss funding for the expansion of the Chicoutimi hospital

The Premier of Quebec, François Legault, and the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, discussed the expansion and redevelopment project of the operating room at the Chicoutimi hospital on Friday, suggesting a funding announcement soon.

It is in a message on his Twitter account that François Legault advanced. We discussed the expansion and modernization projects of Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Saint-Jérôme, Chicoutimi and Charles-LeMoyne hospitals, wrote the PM on his Twitter account.

It was then a question of financing major projects. On the computer screen shared in the message, a document called 20210602_projets_majeurs_financing.pdf occupies half of the screen.

The expansion and redevelopment project of the operating room at Chicoutimi hospital was announced in June 2018 by the then Minister of Health, Gaétan Barrette. The timeline provided for a horizon of six years. It was then valued between 78 and 83 million dollars.

As for the Integrated University Health and Social Services Center (CIUSSS) of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, we could not confirm anything about any upcoming announcement. Pierre-Alexandre Maltais, senior communications and media relations advisor, however, indicated that the project was continuing to move forward. The expansion project of the operating room at the Chicoutimi hospital is still underway on schedule. The project has different components that will make it possible to improve several sectors of the hospital more widely., he replied on Friday afternoon.

The bell tune was more or less the same at the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS). The project is a priority and the planning phase continues. Announcements will be made at the appropriate time, we said by email.
