Los Angeles Lakers star player LeBron James retired on Saturday in the NBA game with Atlanta Hawks (94-99 loss) with an ankle injury. The 36-year-old basketball player did not leave the field until after he had tightened his record series for most duels in a row by at least ten points to 1.036.
James was injured early in the second quarter when Hawks’s Solomon Hill fell on his right ankle. The four-time NBA champion went to the ground with a shout. According to ESPN James has sprained his ankle and is out for the time being.
The forward came back into the field after a time-out requested by the Lakers. He immediately made a three-pointer, which brought him to the desired ten points.
The Lakers then took another time-out, allowing James to leave the field permanently. The American knocked over a chair on his way to the locker room in frustration.
Reigning champion Los Angeles Lakers has had to miss other star player Anthony Davis for fourteen games due to a calf injury. James participated in 41 of the 42 duels of the reigning champion this year.
