Good news at last! Lebanon won the gold medal for the best olive oil in the world on Friday in New York.
The Lebanese olive oil “Darmmess” won the gold medal of the 2023 vintage of the World Olive Oil Competition, the largest and most prestigious olive oil quality competition in the world.
Darmmess Olive Oil is a high phenolic extra virgin oil from Deir Mimas, South Lebanon, made from olive trees between 600 and 2000 years old.
The outgoing Minister of Agriculture Abbas Hajj Hassan, congratulated the producer of the product, Mrs. Rose Bechara on this great achievement, and affirmed that “olive oil is a promising product with which Lebanon can compete with most of the exporting countries despite the many crises it is going through”.
