Lebanese Hezbollah Forces Shoot Down Israeli Military Drone

VIVAIsrael is not only at odds with Hamas and Palestine, but also with the Lebanese Hezbollah militia group. This time the group in southern Lebanon claims to have shot down an Israeli military drone.

Israeli military drones are known to fly in restricted areas. As a result, the Israeli drone was targeted by Hezbollah forces. After being shot down, the drone was finally seized by Hezbollah militia, Saturday 22 August. Hezbollah fighters are known to take down drone Israel near the city of Aita al-Shaab.

Quoted VIVA Military through the site Al Jazeera Sunday, August 23, 2020, the Israeli military confirmed that one of its drones crashed in Lebanese territory. Even though at that time, Israeli military forces were carrying out patrol activities along Blue Line.

Israeli Defense Forces say it has repulsed the efforts of Hezbollah fighters to reach that line. That line is the border between Lebanon and Israel, where there are United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) troops and UN forces.

UNIFIL was founded by the United Nations in 1978, and has the task of increasing oversight. The formation of a multinational military force did not last long to maintain the Lebanese situation, after a long war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006.

There are 10,500 personnel who strengthen UNIFIL in Lebanon and coordinate intensively with the Lebanese military forces. UNIFIL forces are also tasked with monitoring the ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from the demilitarized zone on the border.

As a result, Israel has accused Hezbollah of stockpiling weapons on the border to prepare for a new war.
