The case is up to date!

– I am honored and proud to have the opportunity to lead Scuderia Ferrari. For someone who has had a lifelong relationship with motorsport, Ferrari has always represented the best of the best. I look forward to working with the talented team at the Maranello plant. We will do what we can to further honor Ferrari’s history and heritage, says Vasseur in one declaration on the Ferrari websites.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Mattia Binotto has finished as boss of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc at Ferrari. Several websites, including the Formula 1 one Formula 1. comreported Tuesday that Vasseur would most likely end up as Binotto’s replacement.

Soon after came the official confirmation:

The French Vasseur spent six years at Alfa Romeo, where he had, among others, Kimi Raikkonen, Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc under his wing. He led the team to 6th place in the constructors’ championship in 2022. It was the best result in ten years for the Swiss team, which has strong ties to Ferrari.

– We are delighted to welcome Fred. Throughout his career, he has always combined his tactical strengths with his engineering qualifications. He has always brought out the best in the riders and teams he has been responsible for. This is what we need to take Ferrari to a new level, says Ferrari director Benedetto Vigna on employment.

PAST AND FUTURE: Mattia Binotto (left) and Charles Leclerc (th). The former ended up in Ferrari, while Leclerc is seen as the great champion hope of the coming years. The 1997 model was second in 2022.

Binotto had to give up after one o’clock controversial year with the Reds, where the team and its strategies have often destroyed their chances of victory. Ferrari finished second in the constructors’ championship, while Charles Leclerc took second place in the drivers’ championship, just ahead of Reb Bull’s Sergio Perez.

Viaplay pundit Atle Gulbrandsen was a little unsure if sacking Binotto was the right move for Ferrari when the sacking was a fact.

– It’s a bit risky. Look at Red Bull boss Christian Horner and Mercedes boss Toto Wolff – they’ve been doing these jobs for many years. In the Schumacher era, Jean Todt was the head of Ferrari for a long time. It took many years for it to ease under Todt. So often it may be necessary to have ice in the stomach. I’m not surprised Binotto is finished, but we still don’t know how wise that is, Gulbrandsen told VG a few weeks ago.
