Unilever recently recalled many of its aerosol dry shampoo products, branded Dove, Nexxus, Suave, TIGI and TRESemme in the United States because they contain the harmful chemical benzene.
Quoted from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) page, this benzene-contaminated product was previously popularized in national retailers.
Although it has been withdrawn from circulation, there have been no further reports of the side effects of using the shampoo.
So what is benzene? And why is it so dangerous to health?
