Trailer League of Legends: Riot Games presents the redesign of Volibear

After Fiddlesticks recently, it’s Volibear which will be the subject of a visual and gameplay overhaul in League of Legends. Riot Games presented version 2.0 of the demi-god of the Ursidae during a livestream, here summarized in video.
For this redesign of Volibear, Riot Games wanted to “accentuate its theme of demi-god of Freljord struck by lightning” and give it an aspect “without mercy”. “Every skill should look wild, unforgiving and inevitable”, introduce the developers. Its kit will be “modernized”, in particular its E and its ultimate capacity, as follows:
New skills from Volibear
- Volibear’s basic attacks and abilities grant him attack speed and ultimately inflict magic damage on nearby enemies
A – Thundering Smash
- Volibear gets on all fours and runs faster towards enemies, stunning and dealing damage the first time it hits.
Z – Frenzied Maul
- Volibear deals damage to an enemy, marking it and applying impact effects. Raising the spell on the same target deals additional damage and heals Volibear.
E – Sky Splitter
- Volibear summons a lightning bolt in an area, inflicting damage and slowing enemies while granting a shield to Volibear if it is in the impact area.
R – Stormbringer
- Volibear leaps to a nearby location, slowing and dealing damage in the impact area while gaining life bonus. Enemy turrets near the landing zone are temporarily disabled.

Riot is taking advantage of the upcoming arrival of this redesign to launch a special event in ARAM mode. Players will be able to see Volibear appear and hit the bridge, and thus recover an exclusive emote by attending this event before May 12. On this date, the redesign of the champion will land on the PBE, pending an official launch towards the end of the month.
