Leaders in business growth

Cepyme 500. The Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (Cepyme) has been drawing up a list of companies located in locations throughout the country and in various activity sectors that are leaders in growth for four years, both for their results and for their ability to generate added value, employment, innovation and international projection. The organization has just renewed this sort of ranking, made up of 500 SMEs, and has decided to reward 8 of them for the sustained growth registered since 2017. One of them, Aragonese, is Fútbol Emotion, the company founded by the ex-footballer Javier Sánchez Broto that started its journey as Soloporteros and that has become a benchmark in the sale of material for soccer practice. The growth of this SME has been exponential until this year, due to the economic crisis caused by covid-19, but there is no doubt that this upward trend will be reactivated once the pandemic is controlled. After billing 22 million euros in 2018 and exceeding 30 million in sales volume in 2019, Fútbol Emotion had growth targets in 2020 that it had to postpone, as it recently pointed out to this newspaper. Carlos Sánchez Broto, co-owner and CEO of the firm. With brand-new facilities in Plaza today partially empty because many employees are teleworking, 65% of its sales come from the ‘online’ channel, with 50% of that business generated outside of Spain.

Event. To deliver the awards to these eight outstanding companies on the Cepyme 500 list, the SME employers’ association held an event last Thursday at the Madrid Stock Exchange with the presence of the third vice president and Minister of Economy of the Government, Nadia Calviño. An event in which it was precisely Carlos Sánchez Broto who spoke on behalf of the winners, “a source of pride for a company that was born 20 years ago in a small room in Zaragoza, now a benchmark in the sale of soccer sports equipment.” The little brother of the former goalkeeper Real Zaragoza and other teams such as Celtic de Glasgow thanked the president of Cepyme, Gerardo Cuerva, for holding an act that “praises the work of businessmen,” whom he referred to as “heroes who have been on the front line in this war of the economy, just like the sanitary ». Carlos Sánchez Broto stressed that the covid has made entrepreneurs go through “very hard months, months that are not taught in a master’s degree” and that in their case they have made all the company’s fixed costs more flexible due to the drop in demand. At the end he launched a message of optimism “in this time of change, a time to undertake more and more and digitize companies”, looking to the future “because the customer is faster in consumption and is increasingly demanding.” To Minister Calviño, the Aragonese asked him to “row all together.”

Others awards. In recent days, other notable awards have been handed out. One of them is the Ricardo Pereda of Communication, granted by the Aragonese communication directors to Balaand, Aragonese brand of BSH, for his campaign ‘There is no like things done well at home’. The other one that I highlight here is the one received by Ibercaja for the activity of its ‘call center’ in Zaragoza, a recognition from the Spanish Association of Experts in Customer Relations (Aeerc).
