Layoff Hundreds of Employees, Sicepat Management Promises Compensation

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT SiCepat Ekspres terminated hundreds of employees. Related to this, SiCepat’s management promised to pay compensation to employees who were laid off.

Although he did not specify the amount, SiCepat’s Chief Marketing Officer, Wiwin Dewi Herawati, said that the compensation provided by the company would comply with applicable regulations, namely that each employee would receive compensation according to their tenure in the company.

“For those affected, SiCepat is responsible for providing compensation,” he said, in a virtual press conference, in Jakarta, Wednesday (16/3/2022).

Wiwin admits that SiCepat has cut 0.6 percent of the total around 60,000 employees, or the equivalent of around 360 employees. The pruning is referred to as one part of the company’s periodic evaluations.

He further explained that cuts were made to employees who did not meet the values key performance index (KPI) that has been determined. According to him, this is done to improve the quality of the company’s human resources (HR).

“What we do is part of the evaluation that is carried out every year in all directorates,” he said.

He also admitted that in the trimming process there was a procedural error in it, thus making the social media world excited about the downsizing news.

As is well known, it is widely reported on social media that the SiCepat courier was forced to sign a resignation letter, instead of being terminated.

“We apologize for the inconvenience,” said Wiwin.
