Weimar.
The Cultural Council of Thuringia has newly elected its presidency.

The Erfurt lawyer Jürg Kasper is the new President of the Thuringia Cultural Council. He succeeds the previous President Jonas Zipf, who did not stand for election, as the association announced on Wednesday in Weimar. The General Assembly on Tuesday evening elected Maja Brodrecht as representative of the Conference of the Heads of the Cultural Office and Gideon Haut from the Thuringia Museum Association as vice presidents.

With a view to the 2024 election year, Kasper announced that, as the umbrella organization, it wants to confidently represent the interests of culture. It must be made clear that a cultural discourse is not an end in itself, but is essential for the community. Thuringia must be preserved as a cultural state.

Kasper, born in Bautzen in 1968, has lived in Thuringia since 1990. He is chairman of the state association for cultural youth education and works as a knowledgeable citizen in the cultural committee of the state capital.

The Thuringia Cultural Council was founded in 2011 as a registered association. It currently includes 18 cultural professional associations. Its goal is to give culture in the Free State appropriate public recognition and to promote its development.
